How Plugsky MCP works in practice

Everything in this guide runs on Plugskyโ€™s live MCP endpoint (https://plugsky.com/mcp) or the npm bridge (npx -y @plugsky/mcp). A client request flows: JSON-RPC over Streamable-HTTP → auth (API key or OAuth 2.1 + Dynamic Client Registration with fine-grained scopes) → tool router → the service you asked for. Model calls run behind a 7-tier provider failover chain; browsing renders with headless Chromium; transcripts come from real captions and Groq Whisper; images generate on FLUX; code runs in a sandbox with no network; memory persists in your account (Postgres-backed); and every tool call is metered per user on your dashboard.

How to give an agent persistent memory (MCP memory servers, 2026)

Direct answer

**To give an agent persistent memory across sessions, install a memory MCP: Mem0 (managed, popular), Memphora (open-source), kenningai (Neo4j-backed graph), rohitg00/agentmemory (27.8k GitHub stars), or Plugsky plugsky_memory_* (Q4 2026, backed by Plugsky's vector store). The MCP exposes memory_write, memory_read, memory_search, and (optionally) memory_graph tools. Once installed, whatever the agent learns in Claude today is recallable in Cursor tomorrow.**

TL;DR

  • LLMs are stateless by default. Memory MCPs give them a persistent brain.
  • Cross-session (survives a chat reset) and cross-client (Claude reads what Cursor wrote) are two levels of ambition; hosted MCPs deliver both.
  • Managed easy start: Mem0.
  • Open-source deep control: Memphora or kenningai.
  • Enterprise / sovereign: Plugsky memory group (roadmap).

How it works

Option 1: Mem0

{ "mcpServers": { "mem0": { "url": "https://mcp.mem0.ai", "headers": {"Authorization":"Bearer m0_..."} } } }

Best for quick wins. Managed, opinionated schema.

Option 2: Plugsky memory group (roadmap Q4 2026)

When shipped, plugsky_memory_write/read/search/graph/forget will run on Plugsky's existing RAG stack โ€” no new vendor, no new bill. Namespaced per workspace, per user, per agent.

Option 3: Self-host rohitg00/agentmemory

27.8k stars. Local vector store. Great for solo devs who want zero cloud.

Winning memory patterns

  • User preferences โ€” "Remember I prefer Arabic first, English second, Modern Standard."
  • Project state โ€” "Remember the schema we designed for the Acme project."
  • Rolling summaries โ€” agent auto-writes end-of-session recaps.
  • Cross-tool continuity โ€” morning conversation in Claude Desktop, afternoon in Cursor, agent recalls the morning's decisions.
  • Team memory โ€” shared namespace: whatever any team member's agent learns is available to all.

Memory hygiene: forget, TTL, DSR

  • TTL โ€” default 90 days; adjust per namespace.
  • Explicit forget โ€” users must be able to purge (GDPR / PDPL DSR).
  • Redaction โ€” don't store secrets. Server-side regex filters help.
  • Namespaces โ€” keep work and personal memory separate.

FAQ

Q: Isn't Claude's built-in memory enough?

A: Claude's memory is single-client and non-portable. Memory MCPs are cross-client and portable across ChatGPT/Cursor/Windsurf/etc.

Q: Where is my memory stored?

A: Depends on the MCP. Mem0 is US-hosted. Plugsky supports regional endpoints (EU, KSA, UAE) and on-prem.

Q: What happens if I delete my Plugsky account?

A: All namespaces are purged per DPA. Enterprise DSR endpoints for granular forget also available.

Q: Can the agent write memory without asking me?

A: Yes by default โ€” that's the point. But you can require chat.memory:write scope confirmation via OAuth for sensitive namespaces.

Q: How is memory different from RAG?

A: RAG is document-centric ("query my PDFs"). Memory is agent-centric ("remember what we decided") โ€” usually smaller, more structured, and includes entity/relation extraction.
