The LLM Token Calculator counts the characters, words, and approximate tokens in any pasted text, then estimates what those tokens cost across eight model options from Plugsky, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Groq, and DeepSeek. Paste a prompt, document, or response and the table updates as you type. It is useful for checking context size and prompt cost before production. Token counts use a character-based approximation, so treat them as estimates.
The tool approximates tokens as one quarter of the character count, a common rule of thumb for English text. Actual tokenizer counts vary by model, language, and formatting, so use the tokenizer that matches your target model for exact figures.
Different tokenizers split text differently, and code, numbers, and non-English scripts tokenize less efficiently than plain English. The estimate is close enough for budgeting, but it should not replace the provider's own token counting endpoint for billing checks.
The table prices the pasted text as input and applies the same token count to output rates as an illustrative comparison. Real usage mixes prompt and completion tokens at different rates, so weight the two columns according to your workload.
